Since 2000 Hope for Children Organization Ethiopia has supported orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS and other vulnerabilities living in the Gulele Sub-City, Shiromeda community. Holistic support is provided to address psychosocial and educational, health and other basic material needs.
Hope for Children Organization Ethiopia’s health program encompasses HIV and AIDS and nutrition for highly vulnerable children and adults. HIV prevention, voluntary counseling and testing, care and support as well as home-based care and hospice services are offered.
Hope for Children Organization Ethiopia supports community development of the most vulnerable children and families throughout Ethiopia. Programs include urban agriculture and nutrition; income generation and vocation trainings.
Since 2013, Hope for Children Organization Ethiopia has been leading implementation of a World Bank-funded social accountability program in Oromia and SNNPR regions with two other implementing partners. The Ethiopia Social Accountability Program aims to increase awareness of citizen rights and responsibilities to contribute to overall development by demanding better quality services. The project intervention sectors are education, health, agriculture, water and sanitation and rural roads.
